‍Miscellaneous brings together a selection of works produced from 2021 onwards that sit outside the main bodies of work presented elsewhere in this portfolio.

Spanning painting, drawing and observational studies, these pieces document an ongoing process of experimentation with different subjects, materials and approaches.

While these works vary in subject matter and approach, they reveal recurring interests in observation, colour and representation. The monochromatic studies, in particular, mark an early exploration of a restricted palette, establishing an approach to colour that has since become a defining characteristic of a lot of Ainslie’s work.

Together they provide broader context for the evolution of the practice.
